The Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty of Commerce organized a workshop entitled:
“Introduction to Institutional Accreditation Standards”

Prof. Dr. Hanan Hussein El-Tobgy – Professor of Steel Structures and Bridges, Faculty of Engineering, Shoubra – Benha University

The workshop addressed several key themes, including:

  • Clarifying the concept of institutional accreditation standards, and distinguishing them from program accreditation standards.
  • Presenting the standard of strategic planning, including the Faculty’s strategic plan, its mission and vision, strategic objectives, and the implementation plans that ensure their achievement.
  • Introducing the standard of leadership and governance, highlighting the criteria for selecting and developing academic and administrative leaders, performance evaluation mechanisms, and the importance of core values in ensuring transparency, fairness, and professional ethics.
  • Addressing the standard of quality management and development, emphasizing the importance of a Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty, its relation to the University’s Quality Assurance Center, the availability of qualified staff and resources, and continuous evaluation of its activities.
  • Presenting the standard of faculty members and teaching assistants, including ratios of staff to students and mechanisms for evaluating performance.
  • Discussing the standard of the administrative staff, focusing on adequacy relative to the Faculty’s activities, performance evaluation systems, and training programs to meet professional development needs.
  • Highlighting the standard of financial and physical resources, ensuring sufficiency, appropriate distribution, and sources of funding to support the Faculty’s vision and mission.
  • Presenting the standard of academic standards and educational programs, and their alignment with labor market requirements.
  • Addressing the standard of students and alumni, including admission and transfer regulations, distribution across programs, support services (financial, social, health), and mechanisms for supporting students with special needs.
  • Discussing the standard of scientific research and academic activities, including the Faculty’s research plan and its alignment with the University’s, available resources for research activities, and faculty research output.
  • Presenting the standard of postgraduate studies, focusing on postgraduate programs offered by the Faculty, their role in achieving its mission, responsiveness to labor market changes, registration mechanisms, and surveys of postgraduate students’ feedback.

✨ The workshop provided valuable insights and constructive discussions that contributed to enhancing understanding of accreditation standards and their application within the Faculty, supporting its continuous development and quality improvement efforts
