Historical overview
- The Faculty of Commerce at Benha University (currently) was established in 1961, and its beginning was “the Commercial Division of the Higher Technical Institute in Shubra “. It offered all its courses in the English language to all its Egyptian, Arab, African, and other international students.
- The Ministerial Resolution No. (1142) was issued on 1/25/1976 to establish a branch of Zagazig University in Benha, including the Faculties of Commerce, Medicine, and Education in the city of Benha, the Faculty of Agriculture in Mashtohour, and the Faculty of Engineering in Shubra.
- The Faculty of Commerce was transferred from its headquarters in Shubra to its current headquarters in the city of Benha at the beginning of the academic year 1977/1978, and the first batch of students graduated from the faculty in Benha in the academic year 1980/1981.
- The current faculty’s building includes a building for auditoriums, the oldest building in the faculty. It includes (2) auditoriums for teaching Arabic section courses (regularity and affiliation). Each of them can accommodate approximately (1,200) students. It also contains the faculty library, the classroom building, the offices of the dean, deputies, the heads of scientific departments, the faculty council hall, the computer lab, the controls complex, the printing committee, and some offices of the faculty members. It also includes halls for running teaching seminars and is used for examination work.
- The English Department building includes (3) classrooms for teaching English Division Each classroom accommodates approximately (800) students. It also includes (3) classrooms for teaching distinguished programs, namely the BIS (Business Information System Program) and the ABA (Accounting and Business Analytics) Program. Each of them accommodates approximately (600) students. It also contains (2) computer labs and the Grand Celebration Hall building. It also includes an auditorium (D) that could accommodate approximately (1,500) students. The administrative building contains the faculty director’s office, various administrative departments, the youth care building, the maintenance building, the IT building, and the medical administration.

The faculty offers several distinctive programs, the most important of which are:
o Study program in English
- The faculty has an English language department with four scientific departments; all courses are taught in English. Studies began at the beginning of the 1997/1998 academic year, and 25 batches have graduated so far. Some of the faculty’s graduates also obtained master's and doctoral degrees in various specializations, and some of them became faculty members in various scientific departments of the faculty, and some of them were promoted to the position of assistant professor in the faculty several years ago. Study in this program was transformed into study based on credit hours starting from 2022/2023.
o Business Information Systems (BIS) Program
This program is taught in Arabic and English and includes (140) credit hours divided into (8) semesters. Study in this program began at the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year.
o Accounting and Business Analytics (ABA) Program
This program is taught in Arabic and English and includes (140) credit hours divided into (8) semesters. Study in this program began at the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year in the English Language Department only.

The faculty has a division of studies in the Arabic language with its four scientific departments, and all courses are taught on a credit hour system: (140) credit hours. Study in this program began at the beginning of the 2022/2023 academic year.
Currently, the Faculty of Commerce has one unit of a special nature that provides some services to the community and the surrounding environment and is called the “Center for Commercial Studies and Research” aiming to provide services to the community in many fields such as accounting, financial, administrative, statistical fields, computer services, courses in the English language, and other related services.
