The Faculty of Commerce at Benha University was established to achieve multiple objectives in the field of higher education and academic development. Today, it stands as one of the leading faculties in this field in Egypt. It is considered among the oldest faculties of the university, as it originated in 1961 as part of Zagazig University, and later became part of Benha University after its establishment as an independent university in 2005. The faculty was officially recognized by Ministerial Decree No. 1142 on 25/11/1976.
The Faculty of Commerce strives to achieve academic and scientific excellence through the continuous development of its educational programs, the enhancement of its research capabilities, and its sustained and effective contribution to community service. It aims to prepare distinguished graduates who are capable of competing in the labor market in the fields of Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, and Statistics. This is achieved by providing a stimulating educational and research environment and by offering academic programs that keep pace with the digital era, sustainability, and community partnership.
The faculty is always committed to raising the quality of education and updating its academic programs in line with the latest developments across various fields. We firmly believe that investing in human capital is the cornerstone of excellence. Therefore, we are dedicated to providing an outstanding and supportive learning environment that empowers our students to achieve distinction and innovation.
We also emphasize the importance of scientific research as one of the fundamental pillars for advancing knowledge and serving society. The faculty has made significant achievements in this area through the publication of scientific research and participation in international and local conferences. We remain committed to supporting our researchers and enhancing their research capacities.
In terms of community service, we believe that the faculty plays a vital role in contributing to the development of the local community. Accordingly, we are keen on implementing many initiatives and projects aimed at improving quality of life and offering solutions to the challenges facing society.

Historical Background of the Faculty of Commerce – Benha University
The Faculty of Commerce, Benha University, was originally established in 1961 as the Commercial Division of the Higher Technical Institute in Shoubra. At that time, all academic courses were taught in English to Egyptian, Arab, African, and other international students.
By Ministerial Decree No. (1142) dated 25/11/1976, a branch of Zagazig University was established in Benha, which included the Faculties of Commerce, Medicine, Education (in Benha), Agriculture (in Moshtohor), and Engineering (in Shoubra). The Faculty of Commerce was relocated from Shoubra to its current premises in Benha at the beginning of the academic year 1977/1978. The first graduating class from the Faculty of Commerce in Benha was in the academic year 1980/1981.
The current faculty premises include several main buildings:
- The Lecture Halls Building, the oldest facility of the faculty, which contains two large lecture halls for Arabic programs (Regular and Affiliation). Each hall accommodates around 1,200 students. The building also houses the faculty library.
- The Applications Building, which includes the offices of the Dean, Vice Deans, Heads of Departments, the Faculty Council Hall, a computer lab, the examinations control center, the printing committee, offices for faculty members, and several tutorial classrooms also used during examinations.
- The English Section Building, which contains three large lecture halls for English Section courses, each with a capacity of around 800 students, in addition to three halls for special programs — Business Information Systems (BIS) and Accounting & Business Analytics (ABA) — each hall accommodating about 600 students, as well as two computer labs.
- The Grand Auditorium Building, which includes Lecture Hall (D) with a capacity of around 1,500 students.
- The Administrative Building, which contains the General Manager’s office and administrative departments.
- Additional facilities include the Youth Welfare Building, the Maintenance Building, the IT Center, and the Medical Administration.

- Department of Statistics, Mathematics, and Insurance

The faculty offers programs in both Arabic and English.

Academic Staff Activities
Many faculty members have held senior administrative positions within the University administration. For example, from the Department of Economics, a former Vice President of the University for Benha Branch Affairs; from the Department of Accounting, a former Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs; and also from the Department of Accounting, a former Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs. In addition, the current Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research is also a distinguished professor from the Department of Accounting.
Moreover, several professors of the Faculty have been selected as members of the Permanent Academic Committees for the promotion of professors and associate professors.
Faculty members actively contribute to the peer review of scientific output for academic promotions in numerous local and regional universities. Many professors also participate in reviewing research papers published in local, regional, and international journals and conferences. Furthermore, all faculty members are engaged in supervising postgraduate theses and dissertations in both Egyptian and Arab universities, as well as participating in scientific defense committees in these universities.
A significant number of the Faculty’s academic staff have been chosen as editorial board members of scientific associations at the local, regional, and international levels. Many faculty members and teaching assistants have received various academic awards. In addition, staff members have served as internal and external reviewers for the self-evaluation of several companies, alongside their continuous involvement in awarding master’s and doctoral degrees to numerous Egyptian students.
Local and Regional Collaboration
The Faculty of Commerce – Benha University collaborates with various governmental and commercial institutions both locally and internationally across a wide range of activities and fields, including seminars, conferences, and scientific exchange. The main aspects of cooperation include:
- Participation of several faculty members in the defense and discussion of numerous academic theses and dissertations at universities both inside and outside Egypt.
- Publication of research papers by faculty members from different faculties of commerce in the Faculty’s own scientific journal.
- Academic missions abroad obtained by many staff members, including to countries such as the United Kingdom and China.
- Teaching of several academic courses by the Faculty’s professors at various Arab universities.
Student Affairs and Education Sector

This sector is responsible for receiving students nominated for admission to the Faculty and handling their application files, whether they are holders of the Egyptian General Secondary Certificate (Thanaweya Amma), equivalent certificates, or international students. Their documents are thoroughly reviewed, and their information is recorded in automated databases.
The sector also provides guidance to students to help them understand the nature and advantages of the academic programs offered by the Faculty, as well as the application procedures.

Alumni Affairs Department

The Alumni Affairs Department, in cooperation with the Certificates Department, strives to provide the highest quality of services to all stakeholders, including students, graduates, parents, faculty members, postgraduate students, as well as the various administrative offices within the Faculty and University.
The Department offers comprehensive services such as issuing official certificates, transcripts, statements of results, attestations, grade reports, credit-hour statements, good conduct certificates, and academic progression records. These are provided either in Arabic or translated into English for students of the regular, affiliated, and English sections, as well as for postgraduate studies (Diploma – Pre-Master’s – Master’s – Pre-Doctorate – Doctorate).
In addition, the Department is responsible for issuing permanent certificates for graduates and postgraduate students with the required quality and efficiency to ensure beneficiary satisfaction, in line with legal frameworks and academic regulations.
The Alumni Affairs Department, together with the Certificates Department, also plays an active role in supporting the Faculty’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives, derived from the University’s mission and goals, in order to meet the aspirations and expectations of all beneficiaries.
